Dr. Zemel will arrive 30 minutes prior to the Bris to organize tools and arrange for proper lighting. Most importantly, she will examine the baby and ensure there are no reasons he should not have the circumcision done (i.e. anatomical issues with the penis, significant jaundice, other signs of illness, etc.). She then will inject a small amount of anesthetic around the base of the penis to help him experience as least amount of discomfort as possible during the actual procedure. By this time, the participants should be there and we should be ready to being the service. There are some important roles to be filled that Dr. Zemel will need to know in advance about, as well as the parents names, Hebrew names, the baby’s name and his Hebrew name, date and time of his birth (as there are rules about reaching the 8th day of life prior to circumcision). There will be a separate area/form where clients can answer these questions and email them back to Dr. Zemel.
